Day 1: Licensure & Ethics Bootcamp (6 CE Hrs)
 This course serves as a refresher on licensure rules while diving deeper into complex ethical issues. It not only reinforces foundational regulatory knowledge but also provides an in-depth review of licensure board structure and operations, equipping participants to navigate current and emerging challenges.

Objectives:

  1. Refresh Licensure Rules: Participants will update their understanding of current licensure rules and potential barriers to licensure.
  2. Apply Advanced Ethics: Participants will practice ethical decision-making in complex licensure scenarios.
  3. Examine Board Operations: Participants will review the structure and operations of the licensure board for enhanced regulatory insight.

Day 2: Documentation and Evaluation Bootcamp (2 CE Hrs)
 This course focuses on best practices for documentation and evaluation in clinical supervision. It guides participants through creating compliant records and employing effective evaluation strategies, ensuring adherence to legal and ethical standards while supporting professional growth.

Objectives:

  1. Create Compliant Documentation: Participants will practice producing documentation that meets legal and ethical standards.
  2. Evaluate Supervision Practices: Participants will apply evaluation strategies to enhance supervisee development and professional marketing.

Day 2: Utilizing Sandtray in Clinical Supervision (4 CE Hrs)
Description:
 This course introduces the innovative use of sandtray techniques in clinical supervision. Participants will explore a non-verbal method to address supervisee emotional and professional challenges, fostering reflective practice and deeper insights into therapeutic dynamics.

Objectives:

  1. Implement Sandtray Techniques: Participants will apply sandtray methods to explore and address supervisee challenges.
  2. Enhance Reflective Practice: Participants will deepen their understanding of supervisee dynamics through reflective analysis of non-verbal cues.

Course Instructors

Instructor David Markwell, MEd; EdS; PhD; LPC; LCMHC; NCC; ACS; CPCS; BC-TMH; CART; EAS-C

David Markwell (MEd; EdS; PhD; LPC; LCMHC; NCC; ACS; CPCS; BC-TMH; CART; EAS-C) is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and National Board Certified Counselor. He holds licenses in Georgia, Alabama and North Carolina. Additionally he is a registered Telemental Health Provider in Florida and Professional Counselor Telehealth Provider in South Carolina. As a Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor and Approved Clinical Supervisor he provides clinical supervision to therapists in training. He currently serves as the President of the Licensed Professional Counselors Association of Georgia for 2023-2024.

David is a practical, interactive, solution-focused therapist who specializes in adult, children, adolescent, and family therapy. His treatment approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients resolve current problems and long-standing patterns. He incorporates a blend of conventional and alternative approaches, drawing upon a variety of styles and techniques to incorporate what will be most helpful for each client. With sensitivity and compassion, he works with each client to help them build on their strengths to identify and achieve life goals.

Senior Instructor Eric Rodgers, LPC, NCC, GCDF,

Eric Rodgers, LPC, is an experienced consultant specializing in licensure, ethical, and supervisory challenges for professional counselors in Georgia. He serves as the Chief Operating Officer for the Licensed Professional Counselors Association of Georgia (LPCA), where he advocates for policy and legislative changes to advance the counseling profession. Eric also serves on the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA) Ethics Committee, contributing to ethical guidance within the field.

In addition to his leadership with LPCA, Eric is the founder of Just for Men Behavioral Health, a private practice dedicated to supporting men’s mental health and wellness. His contributions to the counseling profession have earned him awards from both LPCA and AMHCA. Eric has also been featured in multiple publications, including NAMI, the American Counseling Association’s (ACA) Counselor Stories series, and others recognizing his impact on the profession.
